What is proper wedding attire for an afternoon wedding?

I%26#039;m attending an afternoon wedding next Sunday in a church. The wedding is in Philly and it will be cold next weekend. There are no specifications on the invite as to attire. I haven%26#039;t been to a wedding since I was 7, so I%26#039;m kind of clueless. My mom says to wear something pastel or floral. I shopped around a bit today, but didn%26#039;t like most of what I saw. What I did really like, a brown and white striped wrap dress, was %26quot;too casual%26quot; according to her. I%26#039;m only 21, so I don%26#039;t want to wear something old fashioned, and I also would like to wear the dress again. As you can tell...I need help

What is proper wedding attire for an afternoon wedding?
First off is the brown and white striped wrap dress something you would normally wear to church? If so then it will probably work. If you are worried that it%26#039;s too revealing for church add a nice wrap that%26#039;s white, or even brown, a low kitten heel or flat rather then a high, high heel. a subtle purse like a white or off white satin clutch. Keep you make up light. You are young, so there is no need to be severe in your dress or make-up. Fun jewelry like a beaded necklace, and maybe a matching bracelet. I like the idea of buying a dress you can wear again for another function or just out to lunch. Good luck, I think you should go with the brown dress! Not as formal looking as a black dress, but still a neutral color goes great with anything! Good luck have fun at the wedding!
Reply:Wear a dress that you would normally wear to church. It should be dressy by not formal. Avoid white.
Reply:Wear a pretty dress that is not too formal nor too casual. Wear heels to match ur jewellery and handbag. In this case it would be something nice that you can wear out to anyones 21st. As it will be cold bring a shrug or a suitable jacket that adds dimension to your outfit.

Reframe from wearing white or the same colour as the bridal party.
